  Who are you ?

We are the Flaming Fist American Kenpo Academy, we practice the full version of Ed Parker’s American Kenpo. We set our standards by his requirements. We provide membership to the International Kenpo Karate Association with all the advantages of belonging to an international family. We have a direct lineage to Senior Grand Master Parker through the Iinternational Kenpo Karate Alliance's  Senior Instructors. We are dedicated to the memory of Senior Grand Master Parker, to the propagation and to the progression of his teachings.

What is American Kenpo?

The art of Kenpo stems from ancient China as do most martial arts in the world today. However American Kenpo was thrust from an ancient martial art into an art for the 21^st century, both modern and progressive it tailors itself to the individual, This means American Kenpo will fit to your own personal ability, so anybody who has ever considered studying a martial art, especially women, children and the elderly will find their own personal style of Kenpo . 

Is Kenpo easy to learn ?

Yes, but students must be willing to work hard, and have a strong and positive attitude. Kenpo is built around commonsense and logic, we use intuitive teaching techniques such as memory keys and analogies to aid an accelerated learning process. This in turn  leads the student develop a type of knowledge that is  self extracting, in essence they become a self teacher able to formulate answers to their own questions.

Is Kenpo right for children?

Yes, we encourage children to achieve a strong sense of  independence and self confidence, to try new things and challenge themselves in new ways. Our children’s syllabus, although reduced in quantity and complexity,  allows a smooth transition into the senior syllabus as a child grows in their art without detracting from the core teaching of Kenpo. We also believe in instilling a sense of respect, respect for others, respect for their instructors, respect for fellow students and most importantly, respect for themselves.

 What do I need to start training?

Your first lesson is free so to begin with all you need is some lose clothing such as jogging bottoms and a T-shirt.,  when you decide to continue with your studies in Kenpo all the equipment you will need can be supplied through us. All equipment is top quality at very competitive prices.

When can I start training

You may attend any of our academies at your leisure. Training times and venues are available for you to view on this web site, you may also contact an instructor for further details.

How much will it cost me ?

After your free first lesson, you will only be required to pay for training when you attend a class. An additional  membership fee is payable annually. for current prices please click on the contacts and email an instructor.

Because Kenpo is a street fighting system our main training aim is preparation for a need to survive today’s increasing social dangers.
