The team of members who
attended the 2008 World Kenpo Karate Championships achieved a success of
seven medals, these were TWO GOLD, ONE SILVER, and FOUR BRONZE. The
medallist were Amy Morton and Alice Seatherton who took GOLD in
the 16 AND UNDER TEAM WEAPONS FORM section, Amy Morton took SILVER in
the 16 AND UNDER CREATIVE / MUSICAL FORM section, Mark Williams
receiving BRONZE in the SENIOR INDIVIDUAL WEAPONS section, Tony Smith,
Alice Seatherton and Amy Morton all taking BRONZE in their respective
categories for SPARRING. Our other team members competing all
preformed very well, some only missing out on a medal by one point.
These members were Luke Morton in the 13 AND UNDER INDIVIDUAL FORMS
SECTION, Lucas Sakalauskas getting to the QUARTER FINALS in UNDER 13
SPARRING. Competing as well were Matt Snell, Paul King with Mark
Williams and Tony Smith in the SENIOR SELF DEFENCE section taking fourth
place. Joseph Seatherton competed in the UNDER 10 WEAPONS section taking
12th place and Dan Bennett unfortunately missing out by one point in the
qualifying rounds for MALE UNDER 16 SPARRING. Jenny Palmer gave a good
accounting for her self in the TEAM SELF DEFENCE section and INDIVIDUAL
WEAPONS. Also Andy Seatherton had a successful RANK PROMOTION passing up
to the rank of 6th DEGREE BLACK BELT PROFESSOR. We would also like to
thank all the parents who came across to support our team and especially
Mrs Julie Seatherton who looked after the team and their attending
relatives, ensuring everybody had all they needed for the full five days
of events.
